Nichole de Carle
Nichole de Carle launched her career in the lingerie industry in 2001 after completing the world renowned ‘Contour’ course, with first class honors, specializing in body contour and fit in lingerie, swimwear, corsetry and bridal wear. Nichole de Carle applied her talents whilst working for the luxury design houses of Alexander McQueen in London, Donna Karan in New York, and Pleasure State in Australia, where she gained experience working with major brands. Realizing her own talents Nichole de Carle went on to found her company in 2006, crafting bespoke lingerie for private clients, through which she gained an international following of loyal and regular clients.
Inspired by her Huguenot heritage, who were known as exceptional artisans, craftsmen, and professionals of high societal positions, Nichole de Carle has developed a craft of incredible understated excellence. The de Carle Huguenots were of Royal decent, gentlemen of heritage. Francois de Carle, the bloodline of Nichole de Carle, fled to England from persecution in France in 1572.
Nichole de Carle’s exquisite lingerie embodies a strong design signature inspired by literature, history and architecture, whilst recreating an era of genuine care and attention to detail and craft. Her craft and care is balanced with modern innovation and elegant style. Designed, sourced and developed in England the lingerie is ethically aware whilst using only the finest silks and lace in its production.
With the launch of the Onyx and Opal collections, Nichole de Carle lingerie will become available internationally as a ready to wear haute couture collection, whilst upholding the original bespoke service. Exuding feminine strength, wit, seductiveness, elegance and sophistication, Nichole de Carle lingerie creates a resolutely modern statement. Endorsed and supported by Fashion TV, Nichole de Carle regularly stages catwalk shows at premier events such as The Cannes Film Festival and The Miami Beach Polo World Cup. Nichole de Carle is also supported by the Ethical Fashion Forum.
Cha Cha's House of Ill Repute
Dina Pisani began studying the craft of millinery in 1994 under the tutelage of the highly regarded milliner, Anne Allbrizzio. After completing the millinery program at FIT she began designing for private clients. She later started collaborating with the East Village designer Mark Montano. With Mark she could stretch her talents and create fantastic pieces for his seasonal fashion shows featured at Seventh on Sixth.
In August of 2001 she opened her millinery design studio, Cha Cha’s House of Ill Repute. At her laboratory on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, she works closely with custom clients while also designing her eclectic line of hats. Combining Old World techniques, the inspiration of the 1920’s & 1930’s with her own unique style she has created a line of hats that appeal to a new generation of hat enthusiasts.
In May 2007 Cha Cha's House relocated to the up and coming Dumbo neighborhood in Brooklyn. At the new, larger location, 68 Jay Street, Suite 312, Brooklyn, New York 11201 Cha Cha can accomodate her growing list of clients both wholesale and retail.
The designer hand blocks each hat on her personal collection of vintage and specially designed blocks using the finest quality straws and felts. She scours local & regional flea markets for antique trimmings and feathers to give her hats their singular quality. Her signature hat the “stingy fedora” is a fabulous example of Thirties inspiration blended with the unique vision of the designer. Other best selling styles include cloches, traditional fedoras and mini cowboy hats. Cha Cha is steadily carving out a niche in the market for hats with style and attitude
Sheila Elaine
Sheila Elaine is an energetic young accessories company with a passion for creating edgy and elegant accessories and clothing, which pay homage to both form and function. They began humbly, in the fall of 2005, launching a unique line of scarves and have since broadened their product line to include convertible leather belts, show stopping handbags, edgy capes and stylist jackets Their inspirations are as varied as our products; from Mark Rothko's blocks of color paintings to David Hockney's photo collages, from Paris' starkly modern, angular La Defense buildings juxtaposed with classical curves and graceful elegance of the City Center, to Florence Italy's The Academy, and Michelangelo's sculptural pieces: forever works in progress, fraught with struggle, dynamism and stillness.
In a sense, Sheila Elaine's pieces are also collages: a novel arrangement of shapes designed to work together to achieve a dramatic effect. Creativity and creation is always joyful. Sarah Wagner describes her designs process, which begins simply by looking at a piece of fabric and asking "what can this become?" Envisioning a new design, cut just so, and utilizing the elements of fabric, texture and color in unexpected ways, transforming mere scraps and ideas into delicious alchemy - yielding a world of product and possibilities for Sheila Elaine and her fashion forward customers.
