Select Vintage Clothing: 1940s to the 1980s
Named after one of the oldest and lustful streets in Paris, RUE ST DENIS first open on the upper west side of Manhattan in the early 1990s. since then has relocated downtown in the trendy East Village. The new address is now 170 Avenue B,
between 10th and 11th Streets.
The store is well furnished and organized with superb collections of authentic vintage clothing for men and women that range fom the 1940s to the 1980s. Most items are from never worn collections from past decades that have been storaged and preserved still with their original tags attached. Each piece is individually selected to express the latest proportions in fashion then laundered and tended with artisan skill. Twice a year owner and buyer Jean-Paul travels to Europe to research and purchase for the business. All leather jackets are imported from there including Two-Tone Biker's Jackets and Pants with all the padding. Leather is the only category that is usually slightly worn and also of 1st quality.
Considerable attention goes to 1960s and 1970s Mens Suits. Some are from top European and American Designers, others have never been labeled. Most of the suits have a slim-fit and all have never been worn, largely known as "Dead Stock" Extra-Long and Extra-Small suits are also in stock. Some small sizes are 3 Piece Teen Suits from the 1970's by Pierre Cardin and Yves St Laurent, also ideal women sizes.
Designer Dressses from the 1960s and 1970s, light weight Jersey and Fine Polyester Dresses from 1960s, 70s and 80s are a favorite as Women's Outerwear like Fancy 1960s, 1970s Ladies Coats, 3/4 Jackets & Skirts exclusively imported from Europe.
Always in stock are flare pants for all genders and Men's 60s Slacks with the narrow leg. Also footwear for both men and women- from previously unsold inventories.
