Frederique Dessemond is the owner and designer of ginette_ny. Originally from Marseille, France, Frederique studied art history in Aix-en-Provence and later at La Sorbonne in Paris. In 1999, she packed her bags and headed to New York. She always longed for the city’s creative energy. From 2000 to 2001, she worked alongside an up-and-coming accessory and fashion designer, Paige Novick . Soon after, she decided to work on her own and launched her jewelry business. Frederique currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and 4-year-old daughter Ella.
Frederique Dessemond created Ginette NY to reflect lifestyle she was leading. Born in the south of France and now living in New York, Frederique's jewellery collection is inspired by the atmosphere of these seemingly contradictory places. Her style is always pure, sensitive, uncluttered and elegant.
Frederique has an eye for the simply beautiful and is able to take the unusual and turn into a wearable pieces. She has used a range of icons and images, from panthers, child like figures, to peace signs, each time demonstrating not only her interest in the quirky but perfectly reflecting the trends of the season. Her pendants are often set on cotton trim, a revisited version of the necklaces worn by women in Marseille for decades.
